Overview

We are looking for an energetic, results-oriented and technically savvy individual who is excited to contribute immediately to our team in a strategic relationship and solution delivery capacity. The Technical Specialist is responsible for configuring equipment for offsite mobile offices, disaster recovery test sites and disaster areas in support of Agility's members and partners. This position will offer individuals a very hands-on approach to voice and data network implementation, utilizing terrestrial or satellite technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Disaster Recovery support across assigned technical platforms
  • Facilitate delivery of all technology, furniture, communication equipment in response to ad hoc member requests for testing or recovery requirements under “Best Effort” response, scheduled events as well as disaster recoveries.
  • Support the member exercises by providing installation, setup, user support and Service Desk support for the server, desktops, multi-function devices, tape drives/libraries, printers, faxes, laptops, any and all custom technology before and during the exercises.
  • Keep equipment up-to-date with patches, firmware and driver updates, as identified and keep up-to-date driver and start-up discs for every piece of equipment
  • Assist members in the, testing, of the business continuity and disaster recovery plan
  • Facilitate technology, space, connectivity and power as it applies to member’s exercising the company's Disaster Recovery plans in mock scenarios or in the form of organized tests or actual declarations.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors when necessary for tests, recoveries, tours, presales support
  • Follow, create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures as required
  • Effectively and in a timely basis communicate matters of importance, general updates, status using internal business software systems
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work well under pressure, be attentive to detail and possess excellent problem-solving skills
  • Mentor junior members of the team
  • Be on call 24x7x365 and ready to respond to emergency recovery declarations across the United States and Canada by being prepared to report for a flight with 2 hours’ notice. Or provide remote support for all members who may be experiencing technical difficulties during tests or disasters
  • This position requires a minimum of 30% travel to customer sites within North America.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs and rack-mount multiple servers and lift other heavy equipment on a daily basis and work in extreme weather conditions and for long hours in cases of emergency response.
  • Ability to communicate with members of varying levels of IT knowledge to determine what pieces of technology are required for testing/recovery
  • Repair damaged or faulty equipment in a timely fashion
  • Maintain documentation of all events and member contact via internal business software systems

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • College or university degree
  • 3-5 years hardware/technical support with hands-on experience.
  • A+/ Server+ or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to configure and manage Intel based hardware to include RAID, bare-metal restoration, and server OS installation.
  • Experience supporting SAN’s and data restores from tape is preferred. (Example tape formats:  LTO, VXA, 8MM, and DLT)
  • Experience supporting AS400 is preferred.
  • Familiarity with physical-layer hardware interfaces, higher-level OS architecture, communications technology.
  • Experience in building technical relationships with external and internal clients and partners.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work well under pressure, be attentive to detail and possess excellent problem solving skills. Job task planning and organizing,
